About My Family

There are only two others in my immediate family, my wonderful husband David, who supports me in anything I try. He has patience without end in dealing with me as I know I can be trying. As of August 25, 2009, we will have been married 25 years.

My only Daughter Alysha, (now insisting that her name be Rose - her middle name)was born August 26, 1986.
I am so proud of her. Inspite of her deafness, she is doing amazing in school. She is very fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and can read lips and body language. She is an honor student and scooped 7 awards in school in Grade 10. Tops in Horiculture, Technical Art, Creative Art. Runner up in Social Studies, Science, and an honorable mention in Math.
She also received the Grade 10 Citizenship award, and to top it all of She is Grade 10 Student of the year.

Can any mother be more proud.

It is a year later and I needed to up date the above.  "Rose"  scooped 7 more awards.  Tops in Science, Social Studies, Badminton, Creative Art, Technical Art,  Citizenship, and Grade 11 Academic Student of the Year.

I am at the heights of dizziness.

Well as you can tell, Her Grade X11, Graduating year she outdid herself.  She took top awards in every subject.  She graduated at the top of her class and missed out on being validictorian because of her deafness.  She did not want to speak to the assembly in sign language.  However she took the top honors of the whole High School by winning the Govenor General's Bronze Medal for highest Grade Point Average in the school.  She had 91.3 GPA.

Her Grandma and Grandad on Dave's side of the family and my Dad was there to see her win these awards.  Everyone was so very Proud.

She won a scholarship to Art School but wanted to work a bit first to raise money for college.  This is where things stand at the moment.

MY EXTENDED FAMILY

The rest of my family are animals.

We have 3 cats, Kally-cat, Twister, and Kou. Kally cat is black with white points, making her look like she is wearing a tuxedo. Twister is the same but grey instead of black. Kou our newest member is a Tortoiseshell and white. We have one Dog, Xee, who at 1year old is very much a puppy yet, full of energy and vigor.
Having moved to our retirement home, the bulk of my piggies have gone to others,  We have 2 left and are they every spoiled.  Knute and Spooky, both Abysinnians.

Some of My Favorite People

My Mom and Dad have both passed on which leaves me one brother who is my favorite of extended family.  Bruce.  He favors my dad alot in personality.

My favorite people have been dear to me, some for countless years and some only a couple.

I have been friends for over 20 years with Louise and Larry. They live on a farm that is so nice to visit. They raise donkeys and have cows and calves.  Although I have only seen her twice, Louises Aunt, Sister Bernarda is a welcome friend to me. Louise was hurt a few years ago by a drunk driver.  Louise still has her problems physically. It just goes to show how much I hate drinking and driving.

My most recent friends, believe it or not I met over the internet. Makin'waves (Joy) and her husband Ron and I met in person just a few years ago. These two are brilliant people, with Ron knowing everything there is to know about computers, and Joy,....and then there is Joy. Some people you have an instant liking for. She is one of them. She has become the sister I never had.  On our third meeting she read my tenative novel that I wrote for fun. She grabbed hold of it and made me improve it and edited it, until she said it was perfect. She has become my book agent, as I am too shy and tongue-tied when it comes to promoting anything. SHE is not scared of anything or anybody! Just the person I need. My book has been read and approved by a few people "who matter" according to Joy and she has great confidence that my book will be published. It is now out at about 40 publishers and we are in waiting mode. "Gosh I hate waiting..lol"
